Els - World Matchplay champion
Ernie Els has stretched his record number of wins in the World Match Play Championship to a seven at Wentworth.Els collected the £1m first prize by beating Argentina's Angel Cabrera six and four in what turned out to be the first of two sporting victories for South Africa over Argentina.
The South African golfer has concentrated much of his time since redesigned the Wentworth course in the design of top golfing courses throughout the globe and carries the Cape Verde Development logo on his sleeve as part of his commitment to the agreed design of three courses on the Cape Verde Islands in conjunction with Cape Verde Development.
The three Cape Verde Courses courses will, in a similar fashion to Wentworth, be run directly by PGA Golf Management ensuring the highest quality throughout.
The win brought Els back to the top of the European order of merit and closer to his rivals at the summit of the World golf rankings.
